Hello Volunteers!

The 2026 Arts in the Middle planning team has been working since the beginning of this year to ensure that our 2026 Fine Arts Show is the best ever. Now it's your turn to help us do just that!

Our venue is, once again, at Hewick Estate in Urbanna. Show dates are Saturday and Sunday, June 6th and 7th, but we'll need volunteers for everything from putting out roadside banners weeks before the show, setting up small tents, tables, and chairs before the show starts, and checking in artists and musicians, welcoming visitors, and helping kids and their families experience the wonder and fun of art.

Volunteers have always been the engine that makes this Fine Arts Show run so smoothly! Without you, this show simply wouldn't happen. The entire planning team thanks you all in advance for your support and for the work you do to make this event such a success.

A list of volunteer opportunities will be posted soon.

Children's Art Village

In the children's art village, there will be a variety of self-paced art stations and creative play areas designed to engage the senses, connect with nature, and bond with family. Activities are designed to be open-ended, with room for creative interpretation, and adaptable to children of all ages. Families are encouraged to participate with their children, assisting younger children when necessary and interacting with them in our designated play areas. Volunteers will be greeting families, explaining different activity directions, overseeing play areas, and assisting children with specific art projects, including a variety of mediums.

Potential volunteer duties could include:

  • Greeting families: Welcoming families and children as they walk by and inviting them to participate, explaining the general setup of the area, letting them know volunteers are available to assist if they have any questions or need help.
  • Assisting children with specific art projects: Explaining directions for specific projects, guiding children through the activity, providing more assistance for younger children or recommending parental guidance when appropriate, cleaning up and resetting project areas (some projects may be messy, including painting and washing brushes).
  • Overseeing play areas: monitoring for rough play, making sure children are keeping materials in the designated areas, resetting materials periodically to keep things tidy and fresh for new families, making bubble solution.
